Ghislaine Maxwell’s brother is stepping up to defend her, claiming she is taking the fall for Jeffrey Epstein’s actions.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph published on February 20, Ian Maxwell opened up about his sister’s 20-year prison sentence and made it clear he believes she was targeted.
“My sister is the fall guy. Somebody had to pay the price for what Epstein did, and so the government and the media chose her,” said the British businessman. “I genuinely believe that if Epstein were alive, he would be incarcerated and she would be free.”
Ian did not hold back when talking about Ghislaine’s 2020 arrest, which he watched unfold on the news.
“They sent in a helicopter and 20 armed agents, as though she were a menace to society. It was unbelievable, totally shocking,” he recalled to The Telegraph. “That was the moment my sister became a scapegoat for the dreadful crimes perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein.” He went on to call her conviction unsafe and unfair, even comparing her sentence to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent federal conviction.
“You have a situation where somebody like P. Diddy stands in front of the same federal court on the same charge and receives four-and-a-half years for extreme physical battery, and my sister receives 20 years,” Ian continued.
Right now, Ghislaine is incarcerated at FPC Bryan, a minimum-security facility in Texas, where she reportedly helps other inmates with their legal cases. Ian noted that she is “on the right side of history” and believes feminists should actually be backing her since she has been treated poorly by the system. He is holding out hope that Trump might grant her clemency.
“There’s an argument here that feminists should really support Ghislaine because she is a woman who has been treated abysmally by the system,” he explained. “But I believe my sister is on the right side of history.”
Family loyalty runs deep for the Maxwells, and Ian expressed frustration that Ghislaine cannot access a computer to read newly released DOJ files that he claims could help her case. “Blood is always thicker than water,” the businessman then told The Telegraph.
“The fact is, she’s my kid sister, and there’s no compassion for her; she needs to have someone on her side. That’s where family comes in.”
When it came to the late Virginia Giuffre, who accused Epstein and the former Prince Andrew of sexual abuse, Ian showed no sympathy.
“I know who the monster is here, and it’s not my sister; it’s Virginia Giuffre and her falsehoods that have had devastating ramifications for Ghislaine. I didn’t shed a tear when she died,” he said.
