Actress Glenn Close is trending online as fans catch up on her “Deliverance” performance.
The legendary actor portrays cancer-stricken Alberta, the mother of the main character Ebony, played by Andra Day. The pair have a contentious relationship as they work together to raise Ebony’s three children in an abusive household that also happens to be haunted.
The captivating storyline has become the talk of social media, with viewers praising Close for her range, mainly as she tackles a white mother overseeing a Black family within a predominately minority community. Even Close has admitted that despite her lengthy career bringing to life countless characters, Alberta was totally new for her.
“When [Daniels] told me that there are white women like this in every Black community. I was intrigued, and I wanted to do her justice. And so the journey began,” Close explained to People.
The 77-year-old took on her “Deliverance” role with such vigor, making her a standout in the star-studded Netflix hit, which also cast Omar Epps, Mo’Nique, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.
