According to the Associated Press, the incident occurred after the concert ended at around 11 p.m. when the crowd at Main Street Armory surged towards the exit after several audience members reported hearing gunshots.

Three severely injured women were found inside the venue, one of which died at the hospital.

On Monday, the victim, 33-year-old Rhondesia Belton, was identified as a worker for the City of Buffalo Traffic Violations Agency.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said on Twitter, “Her family, friends, and colleagues are devastated and left to mourn this tragic loss.  Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.”

He said, “This is another difficult day for our City’s workforce and our entire community.  I join all of our City employees in mourning the loss of one of our own.”

Later that evening, police announced another victim had passed away, but her identity was not revealed.

According to reports, seven other women are receiving treatment for their non-life-threatening injuries, while a third remains in critical condition.

Authorities are currently investigating to see if the venue used its proper precautions to accommodate the crowd.

“When you go to a concert, you do not expect to be trampled,” said Rochester Mayor Malik D. Evans.  “Your loved ones expect you to be able to come home.”
