Goodyear

Goodyear has recalled more than 173,000 tires over an issue that could potentially lead to a crash.

Almost two decades after the last tire was made, Goodyear issued a recall of more than 173,000 G159 tires, according to Fox Business. The concern with the tires comes from an apparent tread separation issue that could raise the likelihood of someone getting into a car crash.

The recall comes after allegations against Goodyear started coming in, claiming the company’s Goodyear G159 tires that were installed on Class A motor homes failed in service. Fox Business reports that the issue allegedly led to deaths or injuries.

The tires were made from 1996 to 2003 and are size 275/70R22.5, with DOT date codes 046 through 0403.

Ultimately, Goodyear issued a safety recall over the tires after talks with NHTSA. Owners who are affected will receive a $60 voucher and a replacement of their tires at no charge. The news outlet reports that those who have tires that weren’t installed will be offered $500.
