Google will now help travelers fly for cheap with their new feature that finds the best times to book flights.

On Monday, Google Flights announced new insights that will depend on “reliable trend data” to let travelers know the best time of year to book certain destinations. It is a common practice to book trips months in advance to get the best value. However, many people aren’t aware that booking a getaway in specific months can mean even lower ticket costs. With Google’s latest feature, buyers will have access to historical data for questions such as whether or not June is a good month to buy tickets for a trip planned in December.

“Or you might learn that prices have usually dropped closer to takeoff, so you decide to wait before booking. Either way, you can make that decision with a greater sense of confidence,” the blog stated.

Google already has several tools in place to ensure airline bargains, such as price tracking notifications. Now, the company will begin implementing a “price guarantee” badge. This symbol will show up next to flights that are unlikely to go up or down in price, no matter when booked. These flights will be monitored in Google Flights, and anyone who purchases “price guarantee” flights will be reimbursed if the price drops closer to departure.

Travel has continued to rebound in the years since the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the travel analytics site Cirium, air travel peaked in mid-July with over 23,000.
