Kat Stacks is facing deportation to Venezuela, and her mother is begging for help to keep her in the country.

Kat Stacks, whose real name is Andrea Herrera, became one of the most talked about names in hip hop a few years ago, putting rappers on blast online and on WorldStar. She was picked up in Nashville in November 2010 and has spent nearly two years held at an immigration facility in Louisiana.

An immigration judge has now ordered her deported to Venezuela, the country she left when she was 8 years old. The judge ruled it was not in the country’s best interest to let her stay.

Her family is fighting it. Her mother, Johnyelsi Cardenas, wrote a public letter saying her daughter is a victim of underage sex trafficking and domestic violence, and that the Kat Stacks persona was something she created to survive. Cardenas also wrote about how dangerous Venezuela is right now, and asked people to help get her daughter a second chance. Her lawyer is appealing the deportation order.

Kat herself now goes by Andrea. She has said she’s been turning her life around while locked up, and that she shouldn’t be punished for being Kat Stacks.

Love her or not, this is a lot more serious than any of the drama that made her famous. For now, her future depends on the appeal.
