Gucci Mane isn’t staying quiet about the drama surrounding his label. Early this morning, he dropped a new track called “Crash Dummy” where he goes straight at Pooh Shiesty and Big30.
Gucci uses the record to give his side of the story regarding the January 10 meeting in a Dallas studio where things reportedly went left. He claims he was ambushed and forced at gunpoint to sign paperwork releasing Shiesty from his 1017 contract.
“Tell the truth, you went out like a real crash dummy / And after all that, boy, you still signed to me,” Gucci raps, making it clear that despite the tension, the contract situation isn’t what Shiesty thinks it is. He describes the moment he realized the vibe was off, rapping, “I thought it was a business meeting, but it was a set up / I walk in the room, you can feel the pressure building / N*gga dapped me up, the whole time they plotting against me.” He admits that while he signed the papers, it wasn’t a fair deal, saying, “Pressure on my chest, but I still ain’t pressed / Pen to the paper, but it’s under duress.”
The 1017 boss also brought up the support he provided before things turned sour, rapping, “You learn from your daddy, so I guess that it’s hereditary / I’m that same n***a that put money on your commissary.” Throughout the song, Gucci stands his ground regarding his legacy and his company, declaring, “This 1017 the label, I built this s**t from the ground / And I be damned if I let a n***a take my s**t down.”
This diss comes right as Pooh Shiesty and several others are facing formal charges in the case. It also seems to be Gucci’s way of addressing rumors that he’s been talking to the feds. Last week, reports came out from a detention hearing where an FBI agent claimed Gucci gave a statement to Dallas police.
With this track, Gucci is clearly trying to take control of the narrative and let everyone know where he stands.
