New Music Friday has rolled around yet again, and this time, one of Southern hip-hop’s most talked-about figures in recent weeks has something to say.
Gucci Mane dropped a surprise track, seemingly taking shots at his artist Pooh Shiesty. Following reports that Shiesty held him at gunpoint to be released from his recording contract, the Atlanta star seemingly shared his side on “Crash Dummy.” On the track, Gucci rapped, “Tell the truth, you went out like a real crash dummy, and after all that, boy, you still signed to me.” Shiesty is currently facing kidnapping, robbery, and gun charges related to the January incident, where Gucci was reportedly robbed of over $500,000 and ordered to sign the contract release form. Shiesty hasn’t responded to the diss, though it’s evident their beef is far from over.
Snoop Dogg showcases his OG status on his new album, “10 Til Midnight.” Swizz Beatz, Trinidad James, and October London are among the features on this 14-track project, which came as a surprise to most. While Snoop wears many hats, his lyricism, seen throughout, proves that rap remains at the forefront.
Ahead of her self-titled album, Kehlani has dropped a single poised for song of the summer titled “Back and Forth.” In a welcome treat, Missy Elliott makes an appearance on this tune, with her touch transcending merely producing. The groundbreaking hip-hop veteran drops bars over the beat, leaving fans hungry for more of this duo.
