Atlanta police say there is an active warrant for rapper Gucci Mane after a soldier told a local TV station the rapper hit him with a bottle at an Atlanta club.

The man, who goes by James, told Channel 2 Action News he recently returned from Afghanistan and was celebrating his birthday at Harlem Nights when he asked a security guard whether he could take a photo with Gucci Mane. He said Gucci Mane then hit him in the head with a bottle and that one of the rapper’s friends struck him in the face. James said he was taken by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital and needed 10 stitches.

Channel 2 reported that a promotional flyer listed Gucci Mane as appearing at the club to promote a new mixtape.

Lt. Jeff Cantin of the Atlanta Police Department told the station there was “an active warrant for Mr. Davis for aggravated assault,” referring to the rapper by his legal name, Radric Davis. Cantin said he expected the rapper would want to contact police once he saw the report.

A warrant is an allegation and not a finding of guilt. The account of what happened inside the club comes from James, and Gucci Mane had not publicly responded to it in the reports available at the time.
