Hailey Bieber got candid on how it was an “extremely difficult” time to navigate during Justin Bieber’s sobriety.
Hailey sat down for the Victoria Secrets Voices podcast, where she shares some details of how her family’s history helped her deal with Justin’s sobriety journey.
“There’s a lot of addiction that runs in our family. Not even just my dad, but a lot of other people on that side of my family struggled with a lot of different things,” she said.
Hailey’s father, Stephen Baldwin, have always been open about his experiences with hard substance drugs. Bieber says she “appreciates” Stephen being so open and how it “almost ruined his relationship with my mom.”
“He was always just extremely open about why being sober worked for him and why he needed to be sober and what alcoholic behavior looks like, and where that comes out,” Hailey added.
The model also says that her family’s drug issue prepared her to deal with Justin’s.
“It was extremely difficult,” Hailey says. She then shared that she was initially “nervous” to talk about it with Justin. Bieber said that she didn’t want to bring Justin back to that “dark space.”
However, Justin was “very open about it,” and Hailey commended him on his “good self-awareness.”
