Halle Berry has officially confirmed she is engaged to her longtime partner, musician Van Hunt, putting months of online speculation to rest with her own words.

The Oscar winner addressed the chatter during a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where she set the record straight after reports claimed she had turned down a proposal. Berry made it clear the story floating around was off base.
“Well, there’s some confusion that Van asked to marry me, and I said no. No, that’s not the case,” Berry said. “I did not say no. We just don’t have a date.”
She then confirmed the engagement without hesitation, making it known there was never any doubt about her answer.
“But, of course, I said I would marry him,” she added. “He did put a little ring on it.”
During the interview, Berry briefly showed off her engagement ring, revealing a large round center stone. However, she kept details about the proposal itself private.
Berry, 59, and Hunt, 55, have been together since April 2020. Over the years, both have been open about not feeling pressured to marry to prove their commitment. Hunt previously shared that he had proposed while acknowledging they were taking their time.
“We don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way,” Berry previously explained. “We don’t.”
