Police discovered roughly 100 bags of fentanyl in the bedroom of a Hartford, Connecticut boy who overdosed on the deadly drug at school last month.

Police had recovered around 40 bags of fentanyl at the Sports and Medicine Science Academy on January 13, after the 13-year-old student collapsed. The drugs were found in two classrooms and the gymnasium. They were packaged similarly to the drugs found in the teen’s room and sported the same stamp.

“We can confidently say that the fentanyl that caused the overdose was the same fentanyl that was located in the juvenile’s bedroom,” Hartford police said in a press release, “we have found no evidence that anyone other than the deceased juvenile brought the fentanyl to school.”

The teen died two days after reportedly being found unconscious from fentanyl exposure. Two other male students were also taken to the hospital after exposure. They were treated and released.

It’s not clear how the boy came into possession of the drugs. His mother is cooperating with the police, and there is no evidence she was aware that he was in possession of fentanyl.

It is still unknown how the boy came into possession of the drug. The incident is still under investigation, and there are no suspects at this time.
