HBO is being sued for a fire that destroyed a show set.

In 2019, a New York car dealership caught on fire while filming the miniseries “I Know This Much Is True.” According to the lawsuit, neighbors of the dealership say the fire exposed them to harmful toxins and carcinogens. In addition to the toxic chemicals, the neighbors claim the fire damaged their homes.

If that wasn’t enough, the neighbors say the production team and HBO haven’t cleaned up the burned property. They claim the property remains “uncovered and unabated debris pile, toxin spill and wind-driven dust and gaseous dispersion.”

The neighbors are saying HBO and actor Mark Ruffalo, who serves as the executive producer for the show, is to blame. They claim the set was dangerous due to kerosene, heating oil, and other flammables being stored at the filming location.

The neighbors are suing HBO and Ruffalo for suffering physical and emotional injuries. Court documents state they’re seeking millions in damages.
