He Cheats On You & You Stay, What’s Up With That?

So, I’ll be using this blog post to talk about my personal experience, as well as those of my friends and loved ones. I don’t know many women who haven’t been cheated on. It doesn’t happen. We all talk about if we were ever cheated on how we would leave, but think back to the last time you were in a real relationship and your man was unfaithful, you probably stayed. Don’t feel bad, a lot of us do. This blog is to get to the root of the problem and find out why.

In all honesty cheating, in my opinion, shows a lack of respect. If you’re in a committed relationship with someone you should be able to commit yourself to them and only them. There should be no reason for you to step outside of your relationship. Some people don’t believe that. Some believe that if you’re not married, you’re single and unfortunately they behave that way.

I’ve heard that some women stay because of the stability and the time invested. For some, it’s easier to stick it out with someone you’ve been with for a long time than to start over with someone else. I definitely understand this notion. I think that was part of my reasoning for staying after finding my man was cheating on me. The other reasons were that I felt that sticking out the hard times are what relationships were about. I felt that anytime I tried to leave was too early and I really didn’t try hard enough. If you were quick to leave in the beginning, it was obvious that you didn’t need to be in a relationship in the fist place. These were my thoughts at the time and this is what kept me fighting for a relationship I had no business fighting for.

Something else that kept me, that I’m sure most women won’t admit, is my competitiveness. Like Beyonce’s “Ring The Alarm” I’d be damned if I saw another chick on my man’s arm. In fact, him cheating didn’t do anything but put me on my A Game. Some other girl wasn’t going to reap the rewards from the man that I worked so hard to build. So I stayed and became more aware of what was going on around me. Dumb, but it happens, whether people admit it or not. Ultimately I think this is why Rihanna kept dealing with Chris Brown’s BS.

What are some reasons you stayed in a cheating relationship?
