Reuters reported that a performer working under the name Cameron Bay tested positive for HIV, citing an announcement from the adult industry trade group Free Speech Coalition. Production at Los Angeles area adult film sets was halted until her partners could be notified and tested.
The Free Speech Coalition said there was no evidence she was infected on a set or that anyone else was exposed while working with her. Michael Weinstein of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a supporter of the county’s condom law, said he suspected she was infected on a set. Those two positions were in direct disagreement.
In her interview with Baller Alert, Bay told us she wanted to confirm her diagnosis and urged anyone she had been in contact with to get tested. She said her last test before the diagnosis was clean, and she asked people to wait for the facts rather than point fingers. Bay also said she would cooperate with public health officials and hoped no other performers had been affected.
