How to Get On the Block List – blogged by: @proudlylauren

Almost daily I hear my friends complain about the annoyingly aggressive texters, two texts away from being blocked and forgotten forever. I also hear just as often, others complain about being blocked for some reason beyond their realm of common sense. The disconnect is hilarious, but when I recently had to block someone for texting me three times a day, I realized something had to be done for the annoyed and explained to the annoying.

Here is a list of the top five reasons someone gets blocked.

1 – Text/call too much:  Unless you pay my cell bill, there’s no reason to repeatedly text or call me. My notifications work just fine, so I don’t need to be reminded to respond; I’ll get to it when I get to it.

2 – Inconsiderate timing: If you only call or txt after midnight, or in the middle of the day when I’m at work, even after I’ve warned you, you will get blocked. If you don’t respect my time, I don’t respect your calls.

3 – I’m trying to get over you: Maybe I get tempted to talk to you, or you get tempted to talk to me. Both of which shouldn’t be happening if I’m trying to get over you. Blocking you allows neither. I won’t receive your drunk texts and you won’t be able to txt me if I drunk txt.

4. Inconsistent texter: If it takes two days for you to text back, and even longer to return a call, you don’t deserve an open line to contact me. Simple. When you prove you can communicate, you will get unblocked.

5 – I didn’t want you to have my number anyway, but you were too aggressive to decline: You know those guys who make you call them from your phone before you can just walk away and smoothly erase the number? Or the friend who gets your number from a mutual friend? However you got it, I really don’t want you to have it, so the only option is to block you.

So if you’ve ever been talking to someone and all of a sudden cant get ahold of them, it may be because they have you blocked. Learn how to text, the appropriate times to call, or when not to call it all, and you can avoid the block list.
