Just in time for Love & Hip Hop NY tonight, BlogXilla of Global Grind sat down with Joe Budden and friends to talk about your mother being involved in your relationship and whether Mama truly knows best. The video got me to thinking, is this statement really true? If your parents disapproved of someone you were dating, would you let them go?
I’ve been in a similar situation once and my mother could not stand the person I was dating. She tolerated him but she hated him all the same. When the talk of possible marriage came up she was NOT having it but really, I was an adult, what could she do? Needless to say a few years go by and Mom was absolutely correct. Was she right because she could smell a no good man from a mile away or was she right because no one is ever going to be good enough for her baby?
There are some times that parents can really take things too far and over-step their boundaries. How do you tell your parent that your business is not their business though? Do you even bother to tell them or do you just take their word for it. I’ve seen a lot of families broken up because a parent did not approve of their child’s spouse so I thought this would be a great topic of discussion. Check out the video below.
