The back and forth over an alleged Iggy Azalea video took another turn this week. According to TMZ and other outlets, Iggy’s lawyers have warned Vivid Entertainment that she will take legal action if the company uses her name to market any such video. Her lawyers reportedly argue that the name “Iggy” is trademarked and belongs to her.
Vivid has been weighing a deal for the alleged video. Co-chairman Steven Hirsch told HollywoodLife that the company was “conducting our due diligence” and would look to make a deal if satisfied.
Iggy’s camp has given more than one response so far. Her reps first told the Huffington Post that it was “categorically not Iggy Azalea in the video in question.” A later statement from her lawyers, reported by TMZ, said any such video would have come from a former boyfriend and may have been made without her knowledge or consent.
Baller Alert has followed this story from the start. We reported on the alleged video and on Iggy’s former business partner and ex boyfriend Hefe Wine well before it became a mainstream headline. According to our earlier coverage, which drew on Baller Alert’s own conversation with Hefe Wine at the time, he said he helped fund and develop her early career. We told you first, and we will keep you posted as the legal back and forth continues.
