Blogger Brian Patrick Davis recently sat down with DatsMyQ for an interview about his experience dating a professional basketball player who kept his relationships private. Davis did not name the player, saying he could not do so for legal reasons, and Baller Alert is not identifying anyone either.
According to the DatsMyQ interview, Davis was working as an event photographer in Atlanta at the time, taking pictures at parties thrown by a promoter who was close with players on several teams. He said a man at one of those parties offered him a drink, and that later that night a different person handed him a business card with a phone number and asked him to call when he got home. Davis said he was nervous and never made the call, but that the man phoned him that evening anyway. He described the voice on the line as deep but not intimidating, and said the man seemed a little embarrassed about how much effort he had put into reaching out because he was not used to it.
Davis also said in the interview that he is openly gay and is comfortable being the only out gay man in a room full of straight people.
