A contestant from VH1’s dating show She’s Got Game, hosted by rapper The Game, has filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault. Here is what has been reported so far. A lawsuit is an allegation, not a finding of fact.
According to NBC Chicago, the contestant, Priscilla, filed the suit in federal court in Chicago on Wednesday, seeking at least $10 million. The suit alleges that on May 22, 2015, while the show was filming in the Chicago area, The Game took her from her hotel room for an after hours date that she says she was led to believe was part of the show and mandatory. It alleges he was intoxicated at a bar in Markham, Illinois, and sexually assaulted her, including by reaching inside her dress without her consent. Her attorney is Steven Jaffe.
Responses so far: NBC Chicago reported that VH1 could not be reached for comment, that The Game had not yet hired a lawyer, and that messages to his agent and representative were not returned. No denial had been reported at the time of this post.
Social media has started to weigh in. People close to The Game, including his assistant Leaux Steez, who has said she was a witness, publicly questioned the claim, pointing to Priscilla’s continued promotion of the show online. Others note that the timing of a person’s posts does not prove or disprove what they say happened. Only the court process can sort out the facts.
We will update this story as The Game, VH1, or the court respond.
