Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith is facing an accusation from a New York teenager, and his lawyer says it is completely untrue.
According to reports, Smith was outside a pizza shop in Chelsea after the Cavaliers played the Knicks when a group of young fans asked him for a picture. Reports say Smith did not stop for photos, and the group then started yelling at him. One of them, a 19 year old named Justin, reportedly shouted that New York kicked him out.
Justin later told police that Smith responded by pushing him against a building and putting his hands around his neck. According to reports, police were not called to the scene, and Justin went to a police station a few days later to file a report.
Smith’s attorney has called the allegations false and says his client did nothing wrong. Smith has not been arrested, and the Cavaliers have said he will remain in the lineup for upcoming games.
