Jacksonville, Florida Declares March 1st “Whoot, There It Is” Day to Honor Rap Group 95 South

If you’re a millennial fan of Florida hip-hop, then 95 South was likely a part of your younger years. Now, Jacksonville is honoring the conglomerate with “Whoot, There It Is” Day.

On March 1st, 2025, the city will officially recognize the groundbreaking group with its very own day, cementing 95 South’s contributions to hip-hop culture. As the original creators of the party track, “Whoot, There It Is,” which was a FreakNik anthem, the group helped define the Miami Bass movement and left an undeniable mark on the state’s music scene.

The celebration comes just months before the release of “Beyond The Bass,” a docuseries that delves into the untold history of Miami Bass and Southern hip-hop. Featuring key pioneers like 95 South, Quad City DJs, Cee Lo Green, and more, the series will explore how this subgenre shaped today’s rap landscape, from underground records to mainstream success.

With nostalgia for ’90s hip-hop at an all-time high, this moment provides a perfect opportunity for fans, media, and hip-hop historians to revisit the legacy of “Whoot, There It Is.”
