Jada Pinkett Smith is facing a $3 million lawsuit from long‑time family friend Bilaal Salaam, who claims she threatened his life if he kept sharing what she considered private matters.
According to People, Salaam, also known as Brother Bilaal, says he was attending a birthday celebration for Will Smith back in September 2021 at the Regency Calabasas Commons when Pinkett Smith allegedly confronted him in the hotel lobby with roughly seven entourage members at her side. According to the complaint, she threatened that if he kept “telling her personal business,” he would “end up missing or catch a bullet,” and demanded he sign a nondisclosure agreement on the spot. Salaam claims the threats didn’t stop there. As he left, someone reportedly from her group followed him to his car and continued to hurl threats.
Later, after he refused to help with so‑called “crisis management” following the infamous Oscars moment involving Will Smith, Salaam alleges a continued campaign of intimidation and defamation, all because he turned down involvement in what he called unethical PR tactics.
He’s suing for intentional emotional distress, reputational harm, and damages tied to what he says became a coordinated campaign to silence him.
Neither Jada nor Will has spoken out publicly about the legal matter.
