Jada Pinkett Smith Shows Off Her Hair Growth After Alopecia Diagnosis: "Try'n a Make a Come Back"

Jada Pinkett Smith is fighting back against alopecia, showing off her progress in a new Instagram post.

The “Set It Off” star shared two selfies, the first showing off her shaved head. This is the look she has rocked for years since revealing her alopecia diagnosis. Yet, her hair has begun sprouting back, which she unveiled in the second selfie.

“This here hair is act’n like it’s try’n a make a come back. Still have some trouble spots, but we’ll see,” Smith wrote, showing off a gorgeous light blonde and black mix of short, slick healthy streaks of hair.

Smith first told fans about her battle with alopecia during a May 2018 episode of the now-canceled Facebook series “Red Table Talk.”

“It was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands,” she said during the roundtable.

She embraced her bald fade and became an advocate of sorts for others suffering from the hair loss illness. However, it looks like things have taken a turn for her lost locs, though she has not revealed what she did to regrow her hair. This is a huge step considering that alopecia can often lead to permanent hair loss. According to the Mayo Clinic, it is caused by hormonal disorders, age, or genetics. It can come on gradually, with hair thinning or, in an instance, with clumps of hair falling out rapidly.
