Jake Paul made a controversial announcement today, stating he is currently looking for makeup artists to help him create a blackface skit as a direct response to Druski’s recent whiteface parody.
The influencer-turned-boxer explained his decision during an appearance on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, framing the upcoming project as a way to test whether modern comedy applies the same standards to everyone.
Paul is not just seeking attention, it seems he is attempting to challenge the limits of modern satire to see if the playing field is truly level. During the episode, Paul laid out his intentions clearly, stating, “I’ve been over the last couple of days calling um makeup artists and I was gonna do a response to this, And go like… The full-on Darker? Yeah. And just do it back. Because why not? Like are we on the same playing field?”
The tension stems from Druski’s recent Erika Kirk parody , which featured the comedian in white face paint, a mullet, and overalls to mock a specific archetype of conservative American culture. While the video received millions of views, it also started a debate regarding racial mockery.
Paul argued that if one group is considered acceptable for parody, all groups should be treated the same, and he challenged the industry to maintain that consistency by involving Black creators in his own project. He pushed the idea further by saying, “I Think There needs To Be Some Black Support For The Character… If You Got One Of Those Guys [like Druski or Charles Barkley] To Be Like Hey… I Want You Do This Skit With Me… Still That Is Pussy [if they won’t]. Now You Think It Is?”
For Paul, the upcoming stunt is presented as a push for unfiltered humor in a time he feels is marked by too much sensitivity. He expressed a desire to move past racial labels in favor of raw comedic value, telling Von, “We Should Fuckin Make Fun Of Each Other And I Don’t See In Color. I See in Truth and Comedy.” To support his position, Paul pointed to past examples like Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder or old controversies involving mainstream politicians and late-night hosts.
Whether the public views Paul’s plan as a legitimate statement on free speech or a major mistake remains to be seen, but the announcement has already guaranteed that the debate over comedy and double standards will continue.
