Erica Kinsman, the woman who accused Jameis Winston of sexual assault while he was a Florida State quarterback, has spoken publicly about her account in the documentary The Hunting Ground, which aired on CNN this week.
In the film, Erica says the incident happened in December 2012. She says she was at a bar near campus when Jameis stepped in to help her with a man who was bothering her group, then handed her a shot. She says she believes she was given something because she was far more impaired than the amount she drank would explain. She says she remembers being in a cab and later in an apartment, where she says she was sexually assaulted.
The film also says Erica reported the incident to police and went to the hospital, and criticizes how law enforcement handled the investigation, including whether security video was used.
Jameis has denied the allegation and has said the encounter was consensual. No criminal charges were filed against him, and his lawyers have objected to the film, reportedly threatening legal action against CNN over it. We will keep you posted if either side says more.
