A woman identified in court papers as Jane Doe has refiled a lawsuit against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and financier Jeffrey Epstein, alleging she was sexually assaulted in 1994 when she was 13 years old. Trump’s attorney has said the allegations are false. Trump has not been charged with or convicted of any crime connected to the claims, and these are allegations in a civil case.
According to the court filings, the woman first filed the case herself without an attorney in April. A federal judge dismissed it in early May over filing problems. She has since refiled a revised complaint in New York with the help of attorney Thomas Meagher. The complaint describes four alleged incidents in 1994, with the fourth described as a savage sexual attack. It also includes a sworn statement from a witness identified as Tiffany Doe, who says she worked for Epstein from 1991 to 2000 as a party planner. She claims she recruited Jane Doe and saw the alleged assaults. Epstein pleaded guilty to a Florida prostitution charge involving a minor in 2008. As of the reports at the time, neither defendant had filed a response in the New York case.
Trump attorney Alan Garten said earlier that the allegations are categorically false, and that his review found no evidence the accuser actually exists. The lawsuit asks the court to allow the woman to stay anonymous.
Separately, Jill Harth, who sued Trump in 1997, is speaking out again. The Huffington Post reported on her case, and The Guardian reported that her earlier lawsuit sought $125 million and alleged Trump violated her physical and mental integrity. Her claims were withdrawn after a separate suit brought by her husband was settled. When The Guardian asked in 2016 whether she still stood by her allegations, Harth said yes. Trump has not been charged with a crime in connection with her allegations either.
