In her latest interview with Empire magazine, singer and actress Janelle Monáe revealed that she wants to play the character “Storm” in future installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

“I definitely have thrown it out there,” she said. “One of my dreams has always been to play Storm. I don’t know if she comes in Black Panther, but it would be a dream to have her in it. I don’t know where they are with that.”

Storm, aka Ororo Munroe, dates back to comics in the 1970s and was famously brought to life on-screen by Oscar award-winning actress Halle Berry, who first took on the role in 2000, and returned for the 2014 installment, “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

“A lot of women have played Storm, and they’ve done an exceptional job,” Monáe said, “and I would love to be in that line of artists and get to do Storm justice.”

While the 34-year-old has her sights set on entering into the Marvel Universe, she remains hard at work on Amazon Prime’s second season of “Homecoming,” a followup to the 2018 podcast-turned-TV-series that originally starred Julia Roberts. Roberts doesn’t return to the series; however, she did give Monáe her blessing.

“It’s all love,” Monáe told PEOPLE Now in May of Roberts, an executive producer on the series. “I had the opportunity to meet her … and she was so supportive,” before adding, “Thank you, Julia, for passing me the baton; I’m forever indebted.”
