A documentary on Janet Jackson’s life will be premiering this Friday, January 28, on A&E and Lifetime.

The documentary “Janet” will reveal the darker side of her relationship with her iconic brother.

You can expect the 55-year-old pop artist to open up about having a famous last name and living in her brother Michael’s shadow.

In her new documentary, Janet also addresses the fat-shaming comments Michael made about her and how his jokes would come to affect her.

“There were times when Mike used to tease me and call me names. Pig, horse, slut, or hog, cow,” Jackson said.

“He would laugh about it, and I’d laugh too, but then there was somewhere down inside that it would hurt,” she continued. “When you have somebody say you’re too heavy, it affects you.”

As Jackson reveals in the four-part documentary, she struggled with body image issues and emotional eating at age 10, when she played Penny on Good Times.

“I’m an emotional eater, so when I get stressed, or something is really bothering me, it comforts me,” she says in the series.

“I did Good Times, and that’s the beginning of having weight issues and the way I looked at myself.”

“I was developing at a very young age, and I started getting a chest, and they would bind it so I would look more flat-chested.”

Shot over five years, Janet will also feature footage of some of the most memorable moments in her music career, Michael’s child abuse allegations, and the controversial 2004 Super Bowl performance with Justin Timberlake.

Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Janelle Monáe, Paula Abdul, and Tyler Perry are among the familiar faces and fellow performers who contributed to the series.

Starting Monday, January 31st, Janet will be available on Sky Documentaries and NOW.
