61 year old former super model, Janice Dickinson, has revealed that she has breast cancer. She tells Daily Mail that doctors diagnosed her on March 12 after finding a lump in her right breast during a routine exam. A mammogram and biopsy found that Janice had early stage ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) – a common form of breast cancer that starts in the milk ducts.
“It’s still quite shocking,” an emotional Janice said, fighting back tears. “Today I got very scared… I just get very scared and it hit me. But I am not gonna let that define me, the fear. I’m going to get through this, I’ll be just fine kiddo.”
Janice recalls the moment her doctor found the lump. “I’m always optimistic, initially when the doctor found the lump it hurt, it became quite painful when you touch it, that’s the point when I knew this is serious, when the doctor touched this little lump in my right breast, about the size of a pea, and I went bingo, I have cancer.”
She then thought about her family, “I became fearful for my two children, my loving fiancé Rocky, we have a grandson, aged four, his name is baby Aby. I just thought they are gonna flip out.”
Three days after the lump was found, Janice underwent a mammogram and biopsy, doctors determined that she tested positive for cancer. Though she spends nearly every day getting blood tests and deciding on the best treatments, Janice wants fans to know that she is strong.
“Don’t feel sorry for me, this is not a pity party, I’m Janice Dickinson and I’m gonna stick around for a long, long time, you ain’t getting rid of me yet.”
