Jared Fogle Appeal Shut Down; Will Serve 15 Years In Prison

Former Subway spokesperson, Jared Fogle, was convicted of a string of sex crimes, including child pornography and having sex with underaged prostitutes. He was sentenced to 15 years and 8 months behind bars. He didn’t think he deserved that much time so he appealed. According to Fogle, the judge was too harsh in his ruling and added three years to an already agreed deal with the prosecutors for no reason. Apparently he says the original deal was 5 years to 12.5 years in prison.
“In exceeding the agreed sentence by three years, the District Court not only undermined our delicate system of plea bargaining but also placed the U.S. Attorney in the uniquely awkward position of defending a sentence on appeal that it simply could not have believed was a fair resolution to the trial,” said Fogle and his legal team. The  judge thinks he tried it.

The Federal Appeal Court shut down Fogle’s request to overturn his sentence. This means that Fogle will continue to serve out his entire sentence at Colorado’s Federal Correctional Institution.
