Giants defensive tackle Jay Bromley and the woman who accused him are both now part of a public back and forth after a weekend incident that has NYPD detectives involved.
Here is where things stood at the time. Fox News reported on January 31, citing police sources, that Bromley and the woman met on Instagram and later went to a hotel room in Midtown Manhattan. The woman told police she was sexually assaulted. She also told police she fell from the hood of his car as he drove away and was treated at a hospital for injuries. Police sources said those injuries could support a misdemeanor assault charge tied to the car incident, and described the rape allegation as possibly a he said, she said situation. No charges had been announced.
The Giants responded to the news in a short statement, saying the team was aware of the situation and would continue to monitor it. The team also said it had notified the league office.
In a new interview with the New York Post, the woman said she became sick during the encounter and that Bromley got upset. In her words, “that’s when he blew up.” She declined to go into detail about the assault allegation and said she was hurt and traumatized by what happened that night.
Bromley’s side of the story had not been laid out in detail in the reports available when this was published, and he has not been charged with a crime. Everything described above is an allegation and remains under investigation.
