Jay-Z is stepping back outside in a major way, and this time it’s Philly getting the moment.
Roots Picnic 2026 is officially set, with the rap icon headlining alongside The Roots on May 30 at Belmont Plateau. The performance marks his first full set in nearly a year and also his first time sharing a stage with The Roots in over a decade. So for fans, this is more than a show, it’s a full-circle cultural link-up.
His last live appearance came in June 2025 when he joined Beyoncé in Paris during the final stop of her “Cowboy Carter” tour. He ran through hits like “Crazy in Love” and “N***as in Paris,” reminding fans he still knows how to command a crowd with ease.
Now he’s back, and the timing lines up with renewed attention around “Reasonable Doubt“ turning 30. Jay-Z recently brought back his original JAŸ-Z styling and also dropped rare content like “Dead Presidents” on streaming and “Wishing on a Star” on YouTube.
“Moving the Roots Picnic to Belmont Plateau and bringing JAŸ-Z and The Roots together to perform are both bucket-list moments for us,” said Shawn Gee. “After meeting with Mayor Cherelle Parker and hearing her vision for Philadelphia 250, she truly inspired us to dream even bigger… We can’t wait to see everyone in May at the Plat.”
Presale tickets are already live, while general sales open on March 18.
