JD Vance sparked a whole new wave of fan chatter this week after weighing in on one of hip-hop’s longest-running debates: Nicki Minaj or Cardi B. The Vice President of the United States surprised social media users when he publicly chose a side, adding unexpected political flair to a feud that has stretched across years and platforms.
The moment unfolded after Nicki Minaj wrote in a now-deleted post on Twitter, “Vance > Rants,” a playful nudge that immediately caught Vance’s eye. He responded with a post of his own, declaring simply, “Nicki>Cardi B.” He offered no explanation for the preference, and Cardi B has yet to respond to the politician’s pick.

Though Vance has no involvement in the tense history between the two rap powerhouses, his comment instantly reignited online discussion about their rivalry. Minaj and Cardi B have long been fixtures in rap’s ongoing debate over dominance, with their feud reportedly beginning in 2017 and resurfacing at various moments over the years.

Most recently, the tension resurfaced three months ago when Cardi B’s album “Am I The Drama?” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Minaj appeared to suggest the sales were boosted by discounts, posting a now-deleted tweet reading “$4.99.” She followed that with additional deleted posts referencing Cardi’s song “Magnet” and even sharing a photoshopped image of Cardi as “Barney Dangerous.”
Cardi B fired back shortly after, calling Minaj a “bored b****,” ensuring the latest chapter of their feud remained far from quiet.
