While Naomi Campbell has downplayed her affiliation with Jeffrey Epstein on multiple occasions, the scathing files seem to suggest he may have been using her name to lure young women into his illicit world.
According to The Times, newly released documents from the U.S. Department of Justice show that Epstein attended Campbell’s 31st birthday party in 2001, loaned her his private jet, and remained in contact with her years after his 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. The records include emails and FBI interview summaries in which Campbell’s name appears more than 250 times, although several entries appear to be duplicates. Campbell has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
In 2010, less than a year after Epstein completed his 13-month sentence, he received an invitation to Campbell’s 40th birthday celebration in Cannes. The email reportedly stated: “We would really like you to be there as this is a private event for her closest friends and family.”
Her attorney, Martin Singer, told The New York Times that Campbell did not create the guest list and that Epstein did not attend. Later that year, Epstein was invited to a Dolce & Gabbana event in Paris honoring Campbell’s 25-year career. His account responded, “Jeffrey will come plus two, if possible.” Singer said Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell attended briefly and “they stayed for approximately 20 minutes”.
Emails from 2016 also show that Campbell sought travel assistance through Epstein’s jet service. One redacted message read: “Jeffrey is asking if you could find a charter for Naomi Campbell to go from NY to Miami tonight and fly back on sat or Sunday!!” Her legal team said she flew on Epstein’s plane “on a few occasions, but she never observed any inappropriate conduct of any kind”.
Victim transcripts add another layer. In 2020, an unnamed woman said Epstein promised her modeling work and claimed he knew Campbell. She alleged she later met Campbell at Epstein’s office. Virginia Giuffre previously stated Epstein introduced her to Campbell, and she was photographed at the model’s 2001 birthday party.
Singer maintained, “Prior to Epstein’s 2019 arrest in New York, my client knew nothing about his appalling criminal conduct. If my client had ever encountered any young woman whom she thought was being victimised by Epstein, she would have personally taken immediate action to help her.”
