Sentencing for Nicki Minaj’s brother Jelani has been pushed back another month after his attorney asked the court to throw out the jury’s guilty verdict, according to Page Six.
Attorney David Schwartz filed a motion to set aside the verdict. A judge had not ruled on that motion at the time of this report. He was found guilty of predatory sexual assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child, and he faces a possible sentence of up to life in prison.
During the trial, the defense argued that the accusations were made up by the child’s mother in an effort to get money from Nicki Minaj. The jury did not accept that argument and returned a guilty verdict.
With the defense motion pending, sentencing is on hold. We will keep you posted as the case moves forward.
