The ex-wife of Jeremy Renner is accusing the ”Avengers’” star of threatening to kill her as well as putting a gun in his own mouth in a separate suicide threat. The troubling allegations come in the midst of a custody battle over their six-year-old daughter, Ava.
Renner and his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, tied the knot back in 2014, and less than a year later, Pacheco filed for divorce.
Although Renner, 48, and Pacheco, 28, have had shared custody of Ava since their split, Ava’s mother is now claiming that Renner’s home is not safe and that he is an unfit father.
According to TMZ, Renner’s ex-wife alleges that he threatened to kill her while high on cocaine and drunk at a club. Reports say he told someone he, “Could not deal with her anymore, and he just wanted her gone.”
In a separate instance, Pacheco claims her ex-husband stuck a gun in his mouth, threatened to kill himself, and shot into the ceiling while Ava was in her room.
Pacheco is also reportedly accusing her ex-husband of verbal abuse, emotional abuse, and substance abuse, claiming that he left cocaine on a bathroom counter where Ava could reach it.
Pacheco, a Canadian artist, is now asking for sole custody over 6-year-old Ava and monitored visitation for Renner, according to a report from TMZ Monday.
In a statement, a rep for the actor called the allegations one-sided, “This is a matter for the court to decide. It’s important to note the dramatizations made in Sonni’s declaration are a one-sided account made with a specific goal in mind.”
A court hearing is set to be held on November 7, and both Renner and Pacheco were ordered to attend child custody mediation.
