Jermaine Dupri’s contributions to music are being brought to the Grammy Museum!

On Thursday, Aug. 23, the Grammy Museum announced it will be opening a Jermaine Dupri and So So Def Exhibit celebrating 25 years of “Elevating Culture.” “We’re thrilled to announce we’ll be opening ‘Jermaine Dupri & So So Def: 25 Years of Elevating Culture’ on September 20! The exhibit will explore the legacy of Dupri and the rise and influence of Atlanta’s #hiphop and #RnB scene,” the company wrote.

The Grammy Museum’s website describes the exhibit as an “unprecedented look at the label’s musicality, creativity, and signature sound and will educate visitors on how the city of Atlanta became a haven for culture. In the exhibit visitors will be able to see rare or never-before-seen pieces from the So So Def portfolio, participate in interactive experiences and view footage from popular So So Def artists like #BowWow, #MariahCarey, #DaBrat, Dem #FranchizeBoyz, #AnthonyHamilton, #JaggedEdge, #KrisKross, #Usher, #Xscape, and more.

In response to the news Dupri wrote, “My first visit to The GRAMMY Museum® was around the time it opened and they created the ‘Make a Record with Jermaine Dupri’ experience,” Dupri said. “It’s such an honor to return for this meaningful tribute to So So Def, Jermaine Dupri and the city of Atlanta.”

Grammy Museum curator, Nwaka Onwusa, also spoke on how exciting it is to see the evolution of Dupri’s label. “Considering this year marks the 45th anniversary of hip-hop, it is remarkable that So So Def is celebrating 25 years of extraordinary success in the industry,” Onwusa said. “It is impossible to showcase everything that Jermaine Dupri has done to elevate Atlanta hip-hop, and the far-reaching influence of So So Def throughout the world. The GRAMMY Museum is very excited to present this look into the label’s enduring legacy.”
