Newly elected president Joe Biden has spoken out about his former friend Senator Lindsey Graham, referring to him as a “personal disappointment” after fueling claims that election fraud led to Biden’s presidential win.
During a Thursday interview, The Late Show host Stephen Colbert asked Biden if he thought that he and Lindsey could repair their friendship despite Lindsey claiming that Biden was not deserving of the presidential seat.
The 78-year-old says that the fallout was personal because he was such good friends with the Republican senator.
“Lindsey’s been a personal disappointment because I was a personal friend of his.”
In February, Biden’s wife and the now first lady Dr. Jill Biden was also asked about their relationship with Graham on CNN.
“I don’t know what happened to Lindsey. And we used to be great friends and friends with John McCain. I mean, we traveled together with the [Senate] Foreign Relations Committee. We’ve had dinner. You know, and now he’s changed.” She went on to add, “It’s hard when you consider somebody a friend, and they’ve said so many things — so many negative things, and that’s been a little hurtful.”
Recently, Graham has said that the election win for Biden resulted from fraud, siding with Donald Trump that the election was rigged.
“It’s a very, very narrow path for the president. I don’t see how it gets there from here, given what the Supreme Court did. But having said that, I think we’ll let those legal challenges play out.” Graham told reporters after the Electoral College confirmed last week that Biden was indeed the winner of the election.
Graham has also aimed at Biden’s son, Hunter, regarding his relationship with Ukraine. The senator has even requested that a special council investigate him.
“I am absolutely calling on a special counsel to look at all things Hunter Biden to see if he presents a conflict for the Biden administration regarding his business dealings in Ukraine, which is overrun with Russian agents, and any activity he had with the Chinese government,” Graham revealed to reporters Wednesday.
