On Monday, Joe Biden released his agenda for African Americans, detailing his comprehensive plan to rebuild the black community in the wake of years of systematic oppression and racism.

As part of his plan, Biden expressed his desire to close racial wealth and income gaps, eliminate student debt, expand education, and tackle racial inequality within our laws, policies, education systems, and institutions.

In an exclusive interview with Baller Alert, Biden explained his agenda further, all while expressing the importance of additional voting options amid the coronavirus pandemic, opening up about the fatal and economic effects of the coronavirus on the black community and much more.

“I think we need to expand voting across the board,” Biden said. “We have to figure out how we are gonna conduct a full and fair and safe election in November. No one should have to risk their life to cast a ballot.”

“We have to protect our democracy and our public health at the same time, and we can do it,” Biden said.

As the interview continued, Biden explained the details of his agenda as it pertains to African American businesses and entrepreneurs.

“The only way to build wealth in the African American community is you have to invest in the success of African American businesses and entrepreneurs,” Biden said. “First and foremost, if I were president right now, I’d make sure economic relief because of COVID-19 reaches African American businesses that need it the most. In addition, I’d double the funding for the state’s Small Business credit initiative.”

Elsewhere, Biden opened up about the HR 40 bill, which calls for the study and development of proposals for the Reparations Remedy Act.

“There are things that we can do right now, like restoring voting rights, tripling funding for Title I schools, investing, as I proposed, $70 billion in HBCUs, increasing homeownership among African Americans, criminal justice reform[…],” Biden said of the study. “I think we should not wait for that commission, I think we should just start and keep moving.”

In closing, Biden explained the importance in listing and detailing the things that need to be done within the community.

“It’s about laying out, why in the hell are we in a situation where you own a house one side,” Biden

said. “And I own one on the other side, I live in a white community, you live in a black community, your house is the exact same as mine, yours is valued less.”

“I think we can stop this, I think the younger generations are sick [of it,]” Biden said.
