Joe Budden Says He’s Done With Nicki Minaj After Taking Black Built Equity to Trump’s Side: “I Can’t Jive With That” [Video]

Joe Budden is making it clear where he stands, and he says his relationship with Nicki Minaj is officially done.

During a recent conversation with Shannon Sharpe, Budden spoke candidly about distancing himself from Nicki Minaj, citing her political alignment with Donald Trump as the breaking point. Budden framed the decision as personal, value-driven, and non-negotiable. According to Budden, the issue is not political disagreement in the abstract. Instead, he focused on what he sees as a pattern of celebrities leveraging influence built through Black audiences and culture, then redirecting that power elsewhere once major financial opportunities appear.

“A lot of money over there. There will be plenty more celebrities to take that check,” Budden said. “I’ve seen people grow and become multimillion-dollar brands from Black s**t, Black people, and Black consumerism. To watch you take that equity and stand over there, I can’t jive with that.”

Budden did not accuse Minaj of wrongdoing, but he made it clear that her public alliances changed how he views their relationship. He explained that he no longer feels aligned with the direction she has chosen and is stepping away without hesitation.

The comments arrive as Minaj continues to face scrutiny for her recent political associations, which have sparked debate across music and media spaces. While she has not publicly responded to Budden’s remarks, his statements add to a growing conversation about fame, loyalty, and where artists choose to plant their flags.
