Jonathan Majors is facing renewed scrutiny after a newly surfaced audio recording reveals him admitting to assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The recording, obtained by Rolling Stone, captures a conversation between the two following an alleged violent altercation in September 2022.

Majors, 34, is heard acknowledging the attack during the tense exchange. “I’ve never [been] aggressive with a woman before. I’ve never aggressed a woman — I aggressed you,” Majors says. When Jabbari responds, “You strangled me and pushed me against the car,” Majors replies, “Yes, all those things are under ‘aggressed,’ yeah.”

The confrontation reportedly took place after a prolonged fight between the couple in London, where Majors was filming the second season of Disney+’s Loki. In a since-settled civil lawsuit filed by Jabbari last year, she alleged that Majors slammed her into a car, dragged her back inside their home, and strangled her.

While some details of their turbulent relationship surfaced during Majors’ criminal trial in late 2023, the court barred prior allegations of abuse from being presented. Majors was ultimately convicted of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment following a separate incident in New York but was acquitted of intentional assault and aggravated harassment.

According to the lawsuit, the September 2022 dispute began after Majors became upset that Jabbari had gone to a pub with a friend and later invited the friend over to their home. The argument allegedly escalated over several days, culminating in Majors physically assaulting Jabbari. She claimed that Majors threw her against a car, held her in a headlock, and told her he wanted to kill her.

In court documents, Jabbari recounted Majors slamming her head against the floor while choking her. “I also have to heal physically. That’s not me stating other than facts. I have endured a bad head injury and I feel unwell. I have brain fog. I have a constant ringing headache,” she wrote.

After the attack, Majors allegedly texted Jabbari, urging her to avoid seeking medical attention. “I fear you have no perspective of what could happen if you go to the hospital. They will ask you questions, and… it could lead to an investigation even if you do lie,” the message reportedly said.

Majors, who has denied ever being physically abusive, was ordered to complete a 52-week domestic violence intervention program after his conviction.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Majors avoided addressing Jabbari’s accusations or similar claims from other ex-partners. Instead, he focused on personal growth, saying, “At some point, there has to be accountability for writing your own story… Have a struggle, learn, metabolize, grow.”

Despite the controversy, Majors’ upcoming film Magazine Dreams is set for release in March.
