Judge Declines to Revoke Young Thug’s Probation Following Social Media Controversy

A Fulton County judge has ruled that Young Thug will remain on probation, rejecting the state’s recent motion to revoke it over a controversial social media post.

Judge Paige Reese Whitaker issued the order Thursday afternoon, writing that after reviewing both the prosecution’s April 2 filing and the defense’s response submitted by Brian Steel and Keith Adams, the court found no violation of the terms of probation.

The motion to revoke stemmed from a post on social media in which Young Thug (real name Jeffery Williams) allegedly reposted an image of Marissa Viverito, a DA’s investigative analyst with the caption, “biggest liar in the DA office.”

In her ruling, Judge Whitaker stated the court “declines to revoke Defendant’s probation based on the violation asserted.” She added a footnote cautioning that, while the post didn’t constitute a violation, it “may be prudent for Defendant to exercise restraint regarding certain topics.”

Earlier this week, prosecutors alleged the post contributed to an atmosphere of intimidation and called it part of a “blatant disregard” for legal boundaries. Steel called those claims “irresponsible” and argued in his court filing that Thug’s actions did not violate any probation condition or court order.

Young Thug is currently serving probation following a December 2024 plea deal in the long-running YSL RICO case, which initially charged 28 individuals with conspiracy. Nine co-defendants, including rapper Gunna, accepted plea deals before trial. The case remains Georgia’s longest-running criminal trial to date.
