While sitting down for an interview on “The Danza Project,” the Dipset rapper shared a story of extreme generosity that most fans never knew about. While Santana was serving time in federal prison, Wayne reportedly stepped up in a major way.
“Wayne sent me $100,000 when I was locked up,” Santana shared during the podcast. He explained that he usually keeps these kinds of gestures under wraps to respect Wayne’s privacy. “A lot of people don’t know that. I don’t put him out there on blast because he doesn’t like that. He don’t do it for that.”
The conversation inevitably turned to “I Can’t Feel My Face,” the collaborative project that has been the subject of hip-hop rumors since it was first teased back in 2005. Despite the decades of anticipation and the success of their 2006 mixtape “Blow,” a full-length album has yet to arrive. Santana admitted that the constant speculation and headlines around the project have become a bit of a sore spot.
“I just hate talking about [the project] because every time I talk about it, it gets clickbaited,” Santana claimed. He emphasized that regardless of whether the music ever drops, his loyalty to Wayne is the priority. “We are brothers, and I’m never going to let anything get in the way of our brotherhood.”
Santana’s legal troubles began in 2018 following an incident at Newark Liberty International Airport involving a loaded handgun and controlled substances found in his luggage. After serving 19 months behind bars, he was released, and it appears the bond between the two rap icons only grew stronger during that period.
For Santana, the $100,000 gesture was just proof that their relationship isn’t just about business, it’s family.
