Atlanta Falcons wide receiver, Julio Jones, became the fastest player in NFL history to earn 10,000 receiving yards after a 30-yard, second-quarter reception in Sunday’s defeat to the Cleveland Browns.
Jones made history after playing in over 104 games, topping former Detroit Lions star, Calvin Johnson, who accomplished the feat after 115 games. Torry Holt and Antonio Brown are not far behind, reaching 10,000 yards in 116 games.
Jones was drafted by the Falcons in 2011. He is the second-leading receiver in Falcons history behind Roddy White, who accumulated 10,863 yards over 171 games.
Jones reacted humbly to the accomplishment.
“I was out here trying to get the win today. I’ve been playing OK, but that’s not anything that’s in my head right now. We’ve got to find a way to win ballgames,” he explained
Quarterback Matt Ryan acknowledged Jones’ record by saying, “He is amazing. He really is.”
“He is a unique and special player. He is as talented as probably any player that has ever played. His skill-set is phenomenal. He works extremely hard and has been awesome to be around for his entire career,” Ryan added.
