Justin Timberlake is adamant that he has no one to apologize to.
On his 43rd birthday, Timberlake marked the occasion by hosting a complimentary concert at Irving Plaza. Prior to performing his 2002 hit “Cry Me a River,” Timberlake paused to share some unfiltered thoughts with the audience.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f*cking nobody,” Timberlake said.
His statement follows Britney Spears expressing her views on the two-decade-old song in her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” where she describes the song’s music video as “a woman who looks like me cheats on him and he wanders around sad in the rain.”
Timberlake’s statement comes just shortly after Spears publicly apologized to the singer.
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry…” she wrote on Instagram. “I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish’ It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ??? P.S. ‘Sanctified’ is wow too.”
On Thursday, Spears appeared to have caught wind of Timberlake’s viral statement when she posted on Instagram: “Someone told me someone was talking shit about me on the streets !!! Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time ??? I’m not sorry !!!”
