A New York judge suspended Justin Timberlake’s driver’s license following his arrest for driving while intoxicated. The pop star appeared at a virtual court hearing from Europe, where he’s currently on tour, and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police pulled Timberlake over on June 18 in Sag Harbor after he allegedly ran a stop sign and swerved out of his lane. During the hearing, his attorney, Edward Burke Jr., argued that Timberlake was not intoxicated and called for the case to be dropped. “The facts remain he was not intoxicated,” Burke stated, expressing confidence that the charge would eventually be dismissed.
However, the judge, Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace, decided to suspend Timberlake’s license and cautioned Burke against making further public comments, hinting at a potential gag order. The next court date is set for August 9. The case faced a brief delay due to a missing sergeant’s signature on the original charging document, an issue the prosecution claims to have resolved.
Court documents allege that Timberlake displayed signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, the odor of alcohol, and unsteady movements. He admitted to having one martini before the incident and spent the night in custody. The situation remains unresolved, with Timberlake’s legal team continuing to push for the case’s dismissal.
