The 2028 presidential landscape is beginning to take shape, and former Vice President Kamala Harris is keeping her options wide open.
During an appearance at the National Action Network Convention in New York City on Friday, Harris addressed the possibility of another White House bid.
When Rev. Al Sharpton asked point blank if she planned to run again, Harris replied to a cheering crowd, “Listen, I might, I might. I’m thinking about it, I’m thinking about it.” The statement sparked chants of “run again” throughout the ballroom.
Harris, who has spent much of the past year traveling across the country and the South, used the platform to argue that the current political system is failing many Americans. She emphasized that voters are looking for tangible results rather than bureaucratic delays. “The status quo is not working, and hasn’t been working for a lot of people for a long time,” she said. Harris noted that the government needs to prioritize “progress” over “process” to better serve the public interest.
The former Vice President also took aim at Trump’s foreign policy, specifically focusing on the conflict in Iran. She argued that the current administration has weakened the global standing of the United States by neglecting international partnerships.
Let us understand, first of all, this president is the first president of the United States since World War II who does not believe in the alliances that we have with friendly nations,” Harris stated. She warned that rebuilding America’s influence and national security will require “serious” effort.
The four day convention has served as a primary gathering for several potential 2028 Democratic contenders, including several high-profile governors and senators.
While most have stopped short of making formal announcements, Harris’s direct acknowledgment of her interest suggests she remains a central figure in the party’s future.
