2 Juveniles Charged in Connection to Kansas City Chiefs Parade Shooting

Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting

Kansas City police now believe the mass parade shooting was the result of a personal dispute.

Authorities have now arrested three people in connection with the shooting, which left at least 30 people injured, with 22 having gunshot wounds and one dead. To make the situation even more shocking, two of those arrested are minors.

As the investigation continues, police now know the shooting was not an attack on the celebration. Gunshots erupted as Kansas City Chiefs players and staff were out celebrating their second consecutive championship win. Instead, the assailants were having an argument of some sort that turned violent. Sadly, innocent bystanders got caught in the chaos. Local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who works for Kansas City’s KKFI, hosting the Taste of Tejano show, was killed in the shooting as she was out celebrating the Super Bowl win. Lopez-Galvan’s two nieces and nephews were accompanying her. They were also injured, though it’s unclear if they were stuck by gunfire or other injuries. Children’s Mercy Hospital confirmed it was treating 11 children, ages 6 to 15. Nine of them were brought to the medical center with gunshot wounds. Thankfully, all of them are expected to survive. Several adult victims are listed in critical condition at several other hospitals.

No charges have been filed against the suspects as investigators continue to determine how this shooting unfolded. Per Missouri law, authorities have 24 hours to charge individuals, or they must be released. Police are urging to public to turn over any footage or other information to assist in the case.
