More details are emerging about Kanye West’s hospital stay. According to TMZ, Kanye’s personal physician was the person who called 911 on Monday, which led to Kanye being taken to the hospital.
TMZ reports that the physician, Dr. Michael Farzam, told the dispatcher his patient was registered under the name “Jim Jones,” and described the patient as suffering from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration. The doctor reportedly warned that the patient was not violent but could become agitated when police arrived.
Per TMZ, the doctor told responding officers he had placed Kanye on a 5150 psychiatric hold, which allows for an involuntary evaluation, after an incident at a gym involving a staff member. Kanye was reportedly placed on a stretcher in handcuffs, which TMZ says is standard protocol. It is not clear whether the doctor actually placed the hold. Kanye has not publicly commented, and his representatives had not responded to requests at the time of this report.
